Donor Spotlight: Kyle Angelo

In many ways Hudson changed my life. Cost shouldn't be the barrier for a passionate, motivated human to have access to hone their craft and use it to to serve others. I had financial help from my company when I went through Hudson and it is my responsibility to pay that forward.
Kyle Angelo shares about how his personal growth has been shaped by Hudson:
When I walked into the room on day 1 of coach training, for the first time in my life, I knew I was where I was supposed to be. People close to me know I don't normally say things like that. From that day, I haven't looked back. I tell people interested in Hudson Coach Certification that, whether you intend it or not, the skills and self-awareness you gain will filter into all parts of your life. If you do the work, it permeates the way you listen, think, pause, and notice every day. For me that was the biggest shift.
There was a pivotal moment during my coach training where I let go of what people might think of me and the fear that mistakes would brand me as not good enough. When I set those stories aside and focused on learning through self and others, everything changed. Coach training, much like DEIB work, is often more about heart work than thinking work - it requires a deeper level of engagement, humility, and honesty. It is in the quieter moments of reflection and integration that the real change takes shape.

Kyle Angelo speaks to the opportunities that have been unlocked for him since graduating from Hudson's Coach Certification Program:
If more people had general coaching capabilities, the quality of society's interactions and connections would be massively improved.
The practical, concrete skills that I got from Hudson helped me immediately in my job, with my relationships, and with managing myself. Too often "coach training" is associated with becoming a full-time coach. I think that is a limiting connection. If more people had general coaching capabilities, the quality of society's interactions and connections would be massively improved. Despite knowing I wanted to be a leadership coach, I didn't become a full-time coach until 7 years after I graduated from Hudson. In between, I learned how to be a better listener, leader, and own my "stuff" - things I continue to work on today.
The Frederic Hudson Scholarship Program thanks Kyle Angelo for being part of the Hudson community and for helping us in our mission to broaden access to adult learning.
